Hey guys!
In some vehicles the front seat passenger airbag can be switched off when children below a certain weight and height are in the seat. In fact, 3 other vehicles we have owned have all had a safety switch in the dash for this.
Am I able to do that in my 98 XJ?

Unfortunately, there is not a switch (to my knowledge) on Cherokees for the passenger air bag. To be honest, even if there was a switch, placing children in the back seat is much safer than placing them in the front. (this is the firefighter/EMT in me speaking, and the dad in me)

Mike, I believe it's illegal in Wisconsin. To have any child in the front seat, that would require a child restraint seat, or booster seat. Not sure what you do if, you only have a two seat though.

We always keep them in the back seat but Emily wants her friend to stay over night and that means she needs to go up front for the trip home, 10 miles.
Anyhow, she is 9 years old and doesn't require a seat but after doing some reading I found out she is so short that airbags can cause more harm in this situation. I just want to be safe....but looks like I'll have to take two vehicles.....and that's fine as well.
This is also the reason why so many new vehicles have a on/off switch in the dash....they do it for safety of the passenger based on size and weight.
