Used an air dremel with a sanding plate to prep 'em.

There's some write-ups and especially youtube videos. (need VHT nitshade and I use krylon clear coat and a polisher (I used turtle wax but some use meguiar))

take all lights off
wipe down with heavy duty degreaser
2000 grit sand paper with water and a little bit of dish soap
sand till the shiny disapears (i also got all the writing off too)
wipe down with paint thinner (Will make it look like you didn't sand)
take dry rag and rub HARD to take off paint thinner
spray LIGHTLY with VHT (coat 1)
spray LIGHTLY with VHT (coat 2)
spary EXRTA EXTRA EXTRA lightly (coat 2.5)
SHould take 5-10 minutes for each coat to dry
Spray 2-4 coats of clear coat (15-20 min for dry)
Take 2000 grit wet sand paper and VERY lightly scuff the surface
Then take the polisher and polish
Apply liberally and rub VERY HARD

YOUTUBE VIDEOS (cotinuation)

Painted some wheels one time. sandblasted them & sprayed them with a epoxy paint. White. Lasted good long time.

Wow, some really nice rim jobs in this thread. Did my daughters with old drill, wire wheels and sanding pad, tremclad black with a small brush. Mine came with awful spray bomb gold, some wire wheelin, sanding. Both finished with clear coat, have a old swivel stool that I like to put items on and spin to get a fairly even paint coverage. Some before/after. About and hour per rim.

This is how my skanky old rims look right now - im gonna spray them hammerfinnish black this weekend, so I'll post before and after pics then.. hopefully there'll be a big difference.. some of the before and after shots on here look great!.. really motivated me to get on with it. I need decent tyres too, but the spray cans set me back £12, as opposed to £350 for a set of AT'S.. so so the sprayings happenning first
