overhead console
Ok, so I am thinking about do something like this. Now this console is from a Grand Cherokee but all I wanted was the one peace and will be cutting this into my stock overhead console. These pictures are just so you get the idea and this is just a fast photoshop. I am hoping to get two switches on the frount and two switches on the back of the "new" area.
Before photoshop:
After photoshop:
Now I have not started this since I don't have any switches yet but when I find some that will fit I was thinking about doing this for the roof lights and some upper fourway flashers. What do you all think?

How are you going to do this? I had the same I idea about installing my roof light switches in my overhead console, I just used factory fog light switches and placed them in the back of the console like so

I went to the JY and got a console from a Grand Cherokee since the part where the two buttons are seems to be the same size, or close enough. So when I get some switches that will fit in that area I will cutout the area I want the switches in and peace in the GC sonsole part. I am thinking I will use some of the left over plastic from the parts sonsole as a glue area behind the stock console.
Its hard to explain but it all works in my head.
The hardest thing for me is going to be running the wires since I'm not very good at that yet.

sorry for the crappy photoshop pic but it should give you an idea.
I figured since I don't have a garage I really don't need the area for the garage door opener. I was just thinking that if I could get the recessed area with the buttons for the trip computer in it to fit in the garage door opener area it would look more like a factory design. I don't see why I can't do this if I use some of the plastic left over from the console from the Grand Cherokee to give a backing for the glue. Then all I have to do is smooth out the cut areas and maybe a little patching with some kind of putty filler.

Well I started it today. Ripped out all the crap that I didn't need.
Watch for the little clips that you don't want to break off.
Started cutting the area I wanted.
Taped the two peaces together till the hot glue cooled. The glue is just a fast way to see if everything is going to line up before I find a good way to permanently fix them together.
Looking good so far. Now I just have to take the console out of my Cherokee and cut it up.
