Opinions on possible purchase
This would be my first time buying or owning a lifted XJ. What kind of questions should I have for the guy. I've done some research but would like some opinions. Gears, axles, etc..?? What should I be looking for on a XJ with this lift and tire size. Is the price right? Would be mostly driven back and forth to work and some light trails when I go camping etc....Thanks in advance.

Make sure there is little to no rust. Check the 4x4 system to make sure it works. Check the brakes. Make sure it's the 4.0 I6 engine and not the I4. Try to find one with the Chrysler 8.25 rear end. Honestly, if you find a stock one in really good shape, you can mod it in any way you'd like. Usually if it has a lift and bigger tires, it will be more expensive, and it may not be a quality lift.

It's a 99, so that is a plus. $6k is way more than I would pay for it with that many miles, but it does look to be in really great shape judging by the pictures. If the paint and all is really that nice, then I might give $4500 for it. I know he's asking so much because he is hoping to get back all the money he spent on the lift and such, but realistically that never happens.
He probably won't consider $4500, but that would be the most I personally would pay for that, assuming it really is as pretty as it is in pictures and has 0 rust (and everything works and it has the 8.25 rear end). Only you can determine your top dollar and decide from there.
