Opinion on price
Greetings forum members. I would like your help. I was looking at the attached jeep on craigslist. Would like your opinion on price. I am a new member and I assume there are people more knowledgable than me on these issues.

We've sold similar XJs in not nearly as good condition here lately for over $10k and they've sat on our lot less than a day. That things in amazing shape and I'd bet they have pretty extensive maintenance records, most old people who keep their vehicles in that good of shape do.
I'd try for $4500-5000, but given how clean it is and the fact that it's under 100k miles the price they're asking is fair imo.

4,000 to 5,000 is about what that would fetch here in northern NJ, and Motor is right, old people pay stupid money to fix things that aren't even broke yet...LOL

My grandpa had a D44a go bad in the back of his 97 ZJ. Instead of me plucking one from a junk yard he insisted that he buy a new crate axle from the dealer...

I'd say it's a great price for a Cherokee in that shape, but I wouldn't pay that much for something I'm gonna take offroad. It depends on your intended use.
Things that haven't been mentioned:
That Lund visor over the windshield will make people jealous, and the 242 transfer case is great for on-road driving.
Edit: The hitch is also a plus. There is an NHTSA recall on the '01, so it should be taken to a dealer if it hasn't been done. Also, ask about how old the sensors are. '01 has 4 O2 sensors at $70ea. If he doesn't have recent maint records for sensor replacements, I'd try to talk him down.

Thanks, been to rausch creek once to watch an atv race when that section was open. My wheeling is pretty much limited to our hunting camp trails and hills. I was looking at this jeep for one of my sons to run back and forth to psu Current jk is too small for college, and I like to have the jk home to kick around in.

If i was doing any serious off roading , I would probalbly go look at this one, seems like this one should be the $6350, as opposed to the stock one

In these parts, 120k with bad paint or a few dents is $8k at a dealer. I'd say that's well within the market here, but I wouldn't personally pay that much.
