Default oops...

just for everyones information, i painted my jeep black this weekend with some stuff from rustoleum called undercoat. waited and waited and waited for it to dry, its not drying... so, its still tacky. found out the stuff isnt supposed to dry all the way, or so thats what everyone who used it said... anyways, my jeep looks good in black! but i will have to pressure wash it off and repaint the jeep... so to anyone who wants to use this stuff, unless your using it strictly on undercoating your xj (which will work great) dont use it for paint like you would bed liner.

What if you took a heat gun too it? I guess it would just get really gooey instead of drying..

Ouch. Always test an inconspicuous area (like scrap metal) before committing a product to your entire Jeep!

Yea thus stuff is not made to cure all the way. I used it to help seal up my lower quarter cut and fold and on hot days it still gets gooey.

Guys, it's undercoating. It stays soft to prevent scratches from stones and road debris and to prevent rust. It isn't a paint product, and it was never intended to be. No, a heat gun won't cure it. It's doing exactly what it's meant to do.

Pro-tip: There are three grades of product commonly called 'undercoating' (at least in my market)

Rubberized: More like a rubber spray, is advertised as paintable. Is actually paintable in 6 hours. Also sold as Rocker Guard
Rubberized asphalt: Not paintable, doesn't quite dry.
Asphalt: Basically tar in an aerosol spray.

I'm guessing you got one of the latter two...

Ya know, honestly I'm pretty impressed with this stuff so far, after giving it some more time to cure up its acting like a good barrier, pretty rubbery too(rubberized undercoat) might keep it for a while and see how it holds up... Seems to resist scratches pretty good, maybe it's just growing on me

One way to look at it off road most stuff would bounce right off it.Only time i ever removed it was on a old car that it was 40 years old and was a nightmare.
