One of those rare moments
Have any of you ever experience one of those rare times when the combination of tire pressure, road conditions, ambient temperature, atmospheric pressure, wind direction, and planetary alignment all coincide and you have a short period where all the pops, squeaks, groans, and rattles on your XJ just fade and disappear?
One of those moments where you panic for a moment because you think you've gone mostly deaf?
One of those times when other nearby motorists aren't looking around like "where the eff is that noise coming from?"
I had one today on the drive home. Freeway rush hour traffic. About 30-50 miles per hour, with the radio off and the windows down. It was nice. Like having a new car for a few minutes. It lasted nearly 10 miles.
I felt reborn.
Just thought I'd share a warm fuzzy with all of you.

Detours Slyders. Built like brick-sh!thouse and eliminates almost all the pops, creaks and squeaks (the custom cage took care of the rest!)

Had one similar to that
Several minutes after I took off in my Cessna and I'd just leveled off when I noticed it was so peaceful, so serene, so quiet, so Holy S#it, my engine's off.
I knew I wasn't far from the runway and could easily glide-in, I practiced it a dozen times. The panic didn't hit till I started thinking how I'd report it to the FAA if I screwed the pooch making the landing !
The pucker factor was X10

Happens to me all the time. Gets really quiet at times, and then on a hot day or on a wet day, the pops come back.
I never get a break. Something always goes and has to be replaced.

Had those nice moments too. Posted a similar one like yours late last summer. On the other hand, there's that chopper pilot motto, "If everything is working perfectly, you are not paying attention."
