Default Oli pan bolts

I have a 1991 Jeep Cherokee Laredo. Went to fix an oil leak on the front of the pan. Turns out my bolt was stripped. Went to put a new bolt in but it stripped too. Was wondering if I should get the bolt hole looked at and how much that might cost?

You might be able to use a helicoil or one of the variants: https://www.homedepot.com/p/E-Z-LOK-...B&gclsrc=aw.ds

Or drill and tap, but don't drill too deep.

Because that is a bolt that is rarely going to be messed with, you can probably run the bolt in with the end of a small zip-tie at the same time (put the end of the zip-tie in the hole, and then run the bolt in after, then snip off the remaining portion of the zip-tie). The tie will deform and provide the lateral pressure the bolt needs to grab the remaining thread surfaces. You'll likely be able to achieve factory torque. I had to run one of my crossmember bolts this way until I could find the time to do a thread repair on it it. If it was a fastener I had to work with all the time, I'd do a thread repair, but for something that hardly ever gets touched, and where many other fasteners are backing up the one in question...I'd probably do what I mentioned.

Will do that for now. I don't actually know much about re- threading a bolt hole and I plan on changing my engine so if it works as a temporary fix I'll go with it. Thank you for your help.
