Default Odd question...

Has anyone ever transported an axle in the back of their jeep? I'm gonna buy a 29 spline 8.25 from a guy that's about an hour away, and if I can't find a truck to take, I guess I'll just put the seat down and toss it back there. I'm gonna measure my axle tomorrow to see if it would even fit, I was just curious if anyone had ever done it before.

Should fit just fine! I don't see any reason it wouldn't! Make sure to use a tarp lol

Yep. I put a D-30 for the front end of my 98 in the back of it before I swapped it out and it fit just fine, you shouldn't have any problems with an 8.25

Just lay the back seat down. Might want some plywood and plastic down too.

Yep that's how I got my Dana 30 from 400 miles away in a buddy's XJ. Just lay down the back seat put somthing down and remove your Spare tire if you still have one back there. And good luck

Thanks guys! I already have a false floor made of plywood in the cargo area, so I'll just fold the seat down and lay a price of wood across the back of it. I may remove my sub just for a little more room too.

IZAREBL- unfortunately, I don't have a hitch...

I carried around an 8.25 rear in the back of my Jeep for about 2-3 weeks after I bought it until I had someone to help lift it out lol. It fit no problem with the seat folded down, and i didnt even take my spare out (lays flat across the floor between hatch and seat).

It has also fit 5 34x12.5 mud tires on rims in the past.. that one was tight haha.

I sold a set of 4 37's on 20 inch rims to a guy on CL and he stuffed them in the back of a Grand Cherokee lol

I took a couple of garbage bags to slip over the ends to help prevent it from getting everywhere.. it seemed to do the job.

Like everyone else said, it will fit fine. I took a D35 to the junkyard in the back. Hell I even carried it from my backyard to the driveway and loaded it into the back with 4.5" and 33's. I dunno how much heavier the 8.25 is though.
