Odd question...
Has anyone ever transported an axle in the back of their jeep? I'm gonna buy a 29 spline 8.25 from a guy that's about an hour away, and if I can't find a truck to take, I guess I'll just put the seat down and toss it back there. I'm gonna measure my axle tomorrow to see if it would even fit, I was just curious if anyone had ever done it before.

Yep that's how I got my Dana 30 from 400 miles away in a buddy's XJ. Just lay down the back seat put somthing down and remove your Spare tire if you still have one back there. And good luck

Thanks guys! I already have a false floor made of plywood in the cargo area, so I'll just fold the seat down and lay a price of wood across the back of it. I may remove my sub just for a little more room too.
IZAREBL- unfortunately, I don't have a hitch...

I carried around an 8.25 rear in the back of my Jeep for about 2-3 weeks after I bought it until I had someone to help lift it out lol. It fit no problem with the seat folded down, and i didnt even take my spare out (lays flat across the floor between hatch and seat).
It has also fit 5 34x12.5 mud tires on rims in the past.. that one was tight haha.

Like everyone else said, it will fit fine. I took a D35 to the junkyard in the back. Hell I even carried it from my backyard to the driveway and loaded it into the back with 4.5" and 33's. I dunno how much heavier the 8.25 is though.
