noob tire question

Default noob tire question

so whats the deal with tire sizes? like why do the bigger tires go by say 31x10 rather then say 275 70? whats the difference besides one being inches and the other not?

275 is metric so it's a more accurate size. You could buy a 31x10.50 and it might only be 30.7 or something

tires listed in inches are usually LT tires (Lt meaning light truck) where as metric numbers are usually passenger car tires. LT usually have a heavier sidewall as p metric have a lighter sidewall. LT tires are a higher load rating

DO A GOOGLE SEARCH FOR TIRE SIZE CALCULATOR. YOU CAN SEE ALL TIRE DIMENSIONS INCLUDING HEIGHT, WIDTH ETC.
