So I was cruising down the road, and I see a set of OEM tail lights that have a smaller yellow section, more like GC tails. At the next light I ask they guy where he got them, and he said the PO worked for Jeep and put alot of export stuff on the Jeep (had side markers and a couple other things).
I can't seem to find a pic online, but anyone know what I'm talking about and where to get them? I haven't bothered with the stealership, they likely want $800 or say they will be illegal (likely are) anyway.

I got mine from the UK. Found a person on EBAY UK parting out their Jeep, shipping cost more than the tail lights.

I don't see why they would be illegal. They have the required reflectors. The UK actually has stricter regulations for their tail lights. Every vehicle in the UK is required to have an amber tail light lens. Here in the states you can use the same light as the brake light for the turn signal. I'm not really sure why it's a different design because the US '97-'01 has an amber turn signal lens.
I think it cost me about $120 shipped from the United Kingdom. I just wanted something a little different, but I hate most aftermarket tail lights.

i get all the euro stuff for all my cars on ebay.eu or ebay.whatever country. usually the parts are like 5 bucks and shipping is 20 or 30
Thanks! I searched ebay, but I didn't know they had their own sites - thought it was worldwide. I'm going to have to look at them later. Nobody counter bid me
I too like the fact that they're different. The ebay "euro" lights are horrible and very cheap. One of my tails has a little crack, so I figured I'd investigate this OEM route.

The reason that they're different is that in the UK we need to have rear fog lights. That is what the extra red lens is on the bottom. Here's mine:
