New york to cali

I think you'll be fine, Brendan. I just had my '89 smogged last month (in Orange) and it passed. There is some dispensation given to 49-state vehicles so as long as it's been cared for, I doubt you'll have a problem.

Unfortunately I'm already here. I've never had a problem passing inspection in New York and like I said, it runs great. No smoke or anything from the exhaust.
Now by dispensation, you mean in my favor? Or against me.

meaning in your favor...like i said before pay for the pre test just make sure it will pass...if it doesnt pass on the pre test you wont be flagged in the system as failed. Failing wont automaticaly make it a gross polluter but if it is a GP on the real test then it will be in the system and then you will have to jump thru hoops to get it to be a NON gross polluter...the pre test is sort of an insurance policy ...I think you will be ok
In your favor. The maximum allowable is higher for out-of-state vehicles. If you passed in New York, you will likely pass in California.

Y'all are restoring hope in me! Haha I'm still registered in New York and will be until my inspection runs out in November, so I'm ok for right now. I'm just planning ahead so I don't have many surprises

Do you folks out in Kalifornia have RXP ? Its a gas additive you get it at oreilly they usually have it behind the counter. I used it last year to "Help"my 91 mustang with 350K on the clock pass it does work.
