Exclamation NEW XJ project.

Hello everyone! So I recently bought a 2001 XJ after I had put some money into my 2012 GMC truck (new tires, little lift, just piddly stuff) and well needless to say had some fun breaking right axle, rocker arm and a few scractches. This brought about the need to just buy a new toy that I could work on and not have to worry about a few minor dings and scrapes. The XJ was my answer. So... Question is. What to do? Everything is stock aside from some little aftermarket rims which are whatever. Thinking cold air intake, 3inch suspension lift, some 31x10.5x15 to start, but anyone have other ideas or suggestions? Things that make life a lot easier? Share your wisdom, both success and failures are appreciated. Look forward to checkin the forums!

A full exhaust upgrade header back.A full tune up never hurts since its a used jeep.On the cold air intake if you go off road its not a good idea they can suck up water. Its better to run a cowl intake,Both spectre and thor 4x4 make one.

Start with a full tune-up (complete) then change all fluids (everything in including differentials, TC, Trans, Filters, flush, drain cooling sys.

Then check the complete front end and drive shafts/u-joints. axles. All of these should be done before any upgrading is done to the unit all basics should be in good shape.

Sense you are already missing a flare you can cut and fold the fenders to fit bigger tires or just give you more room without adding more lift. Also make sure your cooling system is working properly.

It really was pretty fun, found a nice little mouse nest sittin by the fuel pump and a lot of bondo on the tank from the previous owner (whom I'm not happy with) tried to do a quick patch. I'm glad there were no holes in the tank itself, I was alittle worried that once I pulled the bondo off there would be gaping hole and tons of bondo material being pumped through the system. So far it was a lucky break.
