I know anything is possible but I want to just drop it in and connect it... When I go back to FL I'm thinking of getting a cheap xj for a project. I have a 5.2L v8 from a 1996 dodge dakota sport. Would I be able to just link all the things up and go since they are both mopar. I know its a very broad question and I figure I'll obviously have to tweak alot of things, but would it be somewhat of an easier swap since it's pretty much the same company? I'm going to chop the top and make it strictly for mud just to pull the boat and have some fun. I know it's alittle off the wall and unnessesary but I want to learn to weld and some more stuff about fabrication and what a better way than to just do it. Any pointers in the right direction would be great. I have about 4 years before I start this project.

 

There are no plug-n-play kits on the market for any V8 swaps. I searched long and hard before choosing my V8. If you really want a V8 you're going to have to spend alot of time doing it.

 

thanks. We'll see what I find when the time comes. If the 4.0L is in decent shape I'll just referb it alittle. Aparently from everyone I've talked to they run forever. I'm having enough problems with mine that in 4 years I might know how to completely rebuild it by then. It is still a long time from now too but I just want to know what to expect.
