New XJ
I'm new to this forum and I just recently got my first
Jeep. It's a 1998 XJ 4 door with the high output 4.0 with an automatic transmission. I was told it has a 3 inch lift, not sure if it's a full 3 inches but it is higher than stock. It has some clearcoat issues on the hood and top of the cab, plan on getting that fixed when the weather warms up. I'll post some pictures as soon as I get this website figured out. Is there a way to post pictures from a phone or will I have to get on my computer?

Forgot to mention earlier, the XJ needs a headliner put in and a neutral safety switch. Also, I'm thinking about either spraying the stock fender flares with some rustoleum trim and bumper paint to bring them back to their original glory or possibly going with some aftermarket pocket style flares. Any opinions on what I should do? I found some pocket style flares on eBay for around $250 shipped. This doesn't seem bad considering bushwhackers cost like $500-$600 for a whole set.

Sadly the hood scoops aren't functional :/ when I get the paint on the hood fixed I'll probably just take them off and maybe install some louvers from a lebaron to keep it from heating up. And thanks for the advice on the fender flares, you helped me dodge a bullet on that one!

Last night looking through the forums I learned that my XJ has the "idiot light gauges", do you guys know anything about switching them out for some real gauges? From what I've read, you have to change a couple sensors but does the year of the new gauge matter?

Thanks for the compliments guys! I know it isn't perfect or anywhere near as good as some of the Jeeps the other forum members have but I hope to one day make it much nicer. I'll be sure to let Napier know I'm a form member but right now I don't have the cash to buy much of anything. It sucks being a college student, eh? And is the odometer on the 97 cluster digital?
