so I'm new to the site, i just got back from a 9 month deployment to find jeep horizons hacked so i found this site.
current set up is 6.5 inch short arm with 35's and even with cutouts i still cant get a good flex before stuffing my tires. into my fenders. So im planning on going to the 8.5 BDS here the next month. but im still rolling on stock axles with 4.10 gears. so im planning on picking up some housing from the local salvage yard and start a build up... the question is for 35's do i build my dana 30 and Chrysler 8.25 or drop money for 44's i understand it seems like i should go with the 44's but is the money i save on keeping my axles and building them worth it?

did you cut your fenders.
6.5" is MORE than enough lift.
the current jeep axles will handle 35's if you wheel right. but if you plan to go bigger look at full width 44's or a 9" for the rear as well

Yeah and accomodating a front 44 is really monotonous and difficult, along with any overkill axle on an XJ. You can put 4.88s in your Dana 30, thats the lowest gear you can put into it; but also realize that it can break easier under 35s like 96 touched on.
If you want to go up to 37s Id say go nab some axles from upull, but maybe not for 35s... Just my .02

yeah but a TJ 44 bolts in up front and the salvage yard up the street has two 44's from XJ's. im at the point where im worried about breaking axles with my 35's and id rather be safe than sorry 40 miles in the woods. so its not weather or not im going to upgrade my axles its weather to build to 30 and 8.25 or start fresh with 44's. im just trying to get opinions from you guys
