Default New rockers

My rockers are rusted to the point they are basically non existent, I'm thinking about making some side protection that basically protects the body by replacing the rockers with 3/16" plate. This is my first unibody 4x4 and would like yalls opinion about the durability factor. I'm thinking about welding the plate to the body and basically make new rockers out of plate and have them run back under the body also. I could bolt them in but I'm thinking welding them solid would be way stronger.

Cut everything out and weld in 2x6 tubing. It's very strong and fits very well.

The braces were made by Monkeybars Offroad who did all the fab work. He's a friend and member of ME4x4.org, so we traded skills. Since then, he's been making more and more of them. He did the braces on a metal break.

Those came out very nice. Just looking at the rest of the truck you wouldn't think it had any rust issues. I like that your supports aren't exactly blunt edges; should help with clearing obstacles. The seam sealer was a nice touch there too.

Thanks, I'm very happy with them. (I assume you're reffering to me.)

Mine were in real good shape except for the dents I put in them. I decided to do this before I got into the doors.

oh yeah... oops. I breezed through the thread and assumed it was the OP's; explains the absence of rust too, lol. Yeah, very nice.

I don't know if he does or not. He was for awhile, then got tied up building a tube buggy for the last 6-8 months.

Give him a shot. Tell him you've been talking with Chris from Maine4x4.org and see if he'll make some up and ship them.
