Default Are new Jeeps Considered to be a "Crysler Product"?

Are new Jeeps really Chrysler products along with "Chrysler quality". I have a 95 Cheroke and I beleive it is a Jeep not a "Chrysler procuct". Over the years I have been less than impressed with the qulaity in Chrysler products. If I buy a newer Jeep, I don't want it in the shop every week because of poor design and quality. Had a 72 Plymouth Satelite and wore out the suspension after 20,000 miles. Worse car I ever owned. My dad had a 77 Cordova and that car was worse.

I believe Chrysler purchased Jeep in 1987. Anything newer then 87 is a "Chrysler product"

Well that explains a lot!

Like all those burned and melted connectors and wiring on the Heater Controllers I have seen in junk yards!

Well any jeep after the late 70's is just a little of everyone really, you gotta think, they got chev engines at one point, then Diamler owned em' sold 'em, I think Fiat bought 'em at one point, so on and so on.

Are you saying that you're basing your impression of Mopar overall reliability on a 70's era Satelite and Cordoba?

Might as well say Cadillac hasn't improved any since the Cimarron.

Don't get me wrong I love my jeep but chryslers are crap no matter what year. One reason I work at a GM dealer and not a jeep dealer. Im just hoping the rumors about international buying jeep are true and we start seeing 4.0L in jeeps again. Worst thing chrysler did was get rid of that for a 3.8 V6.

No offense, but GM isn't much better. Gotta love their bracketry technology

<--- my typical facial expressions when looking/working on GM products. Usually in that order, too.

that stinks-

my opinion is that anything after 4.0 i6 is Chrysler- because the I6 was not Chrysler's..they tweeked it here and there but I6 was AMC, if I'm not mistaken..
Not till recently have Chrysler started putting out their Jeep product line..xj's were pre Chrysler, Chrysler killed the XJ like they did the MJ

Almost like we're getting close to arguing that Chrysler buying AMC was a bad thing.

That would be the equivalent of saying that AMF buying Harley-Davidson was a bad thing.

Both companies would have ceased to exist if they had not been purchased.

I believe China owns 25% of GM now.........bet it's 50% or more in a year or two. I'll never buy another GM product or ever own any GM stock again. I'm done with 'em. Sorry for the hi-jack, just ventin'.

Current or past?

I'm a firm believer that pretty much all MFGs have SOMETHING worth driving.

That new Corvette is pretty badass.

I agree, for the most part. Minus a few (Suzuki, Kia, etc). That new Corvette is badass, especially the ZR1. Plus, they get something like 26mpg highway (the base model anyway). That's not much more then my 270 HP V6 Acura TL gets.
