New to Jeeps
I have a 1997 2 door 2wd xj, I have had it for about a month. Today my friend and I took it out to the Bonnet Carré Spillway stock no lift and some toyo open country's. It was all fine until we hit sand and tried to to turn around, we ended up stuck in the sand and trying to get it out for like an hour and the hole time there was a guy in a tractor 50ft away so after about 45mins we walked up to him and asked and he said that he cannot get his tracked excavator back there we were like those things will go every where, so we ended up finding some one to pull us out. I turned off the jeep during this and it wouldn't start back up so I took off one of the battery connectors to find that it is the wrong size so I used jumper cables to connect the negative post to the negative lead. Here are some pictures.

D30 front axle, driveline, transfer case. Not sure on the transmission but I think you just need to change the tail but might need a 4x4 one. All in all shouldn't be more than a 1000 (more likely 500) depending on prices in your area. Search. Its been done a lot and it is all easy bolt on factory parts...
Oh, and in the future if your battery terminal does that from being stretched out, loosen your terminal, flip it over and tighten it back up.

The person who had the jeep before me used the wrong size terminal connector all fixed with a bran new one that is the right size. Might be able to swap the front end and transfer case with my uncles who has one just sitting but will not let me buy it.

So I was out wheeling today and noticed that my rear leaf springs are flat. I know they should not be perfectly parallel with the jeep but they are. I am thinking of using an s10 leaf pack but what is involved with doing that. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

XJ leaf springs are notorious for sagging...I wish mine were flat like yours...At this point mine are inverted...Anywho, i guess the Cherokees came from the factory with a reverse rake where the front sits a half inch higher than the back or something

Do yourself a favor either trade your jeep for a 4x4 or sell outright and buy, converting isn't that bad.......if you know exactly what your doing, have a well equipped shop to work in and all tools to do the job correctly. I do have all these things but they have been acquired over a very long period of time 40+ years and $40k I would guess in hand tools alone not including tool boxes, welders and all the misc. along with a 50x100' shop building.
It can be done with less a lot less but knowledge and tools are required as well as a place to work its not happening overnight.
