Default New guy with questions about lifts

Hey guys/gals,

I have about $800 to spend on lifting my 01 jeep cherokee sport, and like ever other newbie, I wanna lift it a whole 3 inches!

It's not too often that I am able to come up with this kind of play money so I want to make sure that I do it right the first time. I want the smoothest ride possible for my money. Is there a fail-safe full kit that provides what im looking for? I've been bouncing back inbetween Rough Country and Rusty's.. and ive also been trying to cherry pick the "best" components from different manufacturers to create some kind of hybrid super lift!

I'm just to the point to where ive crammed so much of this info into my skull that I've entered irreversible confusion. I need a veteran to steer me in the right direction. My jeep is my daily driver so ride quality is very important to me.

Looking forward to your replies,

Chad

Don't get an add a leaf. It will flatten out eventually and leave you back to where you started.

3" and you will be able to keep most of your stock components. Look for the bleepinjeep watch this before you lift your jeep video on YouTube.

Rough country has bad reviews here but I guess you get what you pay for unless your me and research to do things the right way the first time, cheap as possible.

Basically it depends on how much money you want to spend. S10 bastard pack with cherokee leafs can get you 3 to 5+ in. with shackles in the back. I have $50 into a 3-4" lift in back with the bastard pack. (Not including tools I already had.
Leaf packs will run $100+
Coils for the front are $100+ or you can get v8 grand cherokee coils with a 1in. Spacer for 3" lift around $30 for the coils and whatever a spacer costs.
You'll need shocks for the 3" lift. I don't buy new shocks so I don't know prices except they're around $30 A shock or more.
Front brake brackets will need to be relocated, new longer rear brake line may need to be installed. At 3" there is not much line left for flex.

Above 3" and stock components will need to be replaced, check the bleepinjeep vid out.

I don't know what complete kits are because I'm cheap and the prices I have seen make me sick lol.

Good luck.

Just to be honest, it will rarely go off-road. When it does, it will be light trail riding, nothing extreme. My main concern is having a quality highway ride when it's done.

I have been very happy with Rustys 3" full spring kit but on your budget the 3" advanced kit would be a good choice, it now includes quite a few extras. Upper and lower control arms fixed, adj. track bar plus all the other things.

The only thing that I can see that you "Might" need or may not is a transfer case drop kit but their only $20-30.

Some people rag on Rustys about things but 99% are just going on hearsay and have NEVER had any of his products. Some have and they might have had a bad experience I do not those bur I posted for someone out of the many to post a photo of the bad part.. No one did.

I have been happy with my lift so far a year now and they do have very good customer service and Rusty has spoke to me many times about different products all told I guess 2-3 hrs. at least. I was pleased enough with them to have spent about $4000 with him this last upgrade I just finished.

Time will tell about how something holds up and I have no issues about posting good as well as bad comments about things. Most of all about small companies or large.
