So, I am considering doing shocks and staying stock height, or going for a 3". My rear leafs are in good shape, likely redone by the PO. The purpose of my XJ is driving the family around, weekend trips, hunting and some off road. I currently have 225/70-16 Cooper Evolution STX which have approx 70% tread. I figure this time next year, they will need replacing, or will be close enough for me to call and not feel guilty. All options involve using up stock sized tires since they are so new.

What does the forum say?A) Get stock shocks, and ride. B) Skyjacker 7000's, budget boost. C)RC OR Zone 3"

Get stock shocks and ride. When the Coopers are dead, then go with a Zone 3" and 245/75R16s

I've even considered staying stock and going with stock sized BFG AT's and leaving it alone. I really love driving this thing, wife and kids included. Size comparable to my fiesta as far as maneuverability. Makes my wife's 16 civic sedan feel like a land yacht

Absolutely nothing wrong with stock. Modify as your use demands. I found out a good start was a set of monotube gas shocks,a decent set of A/T tires, and some quick disconnects for the front stabilizer bar (I ditch the rear one).

Mine didn't have a rear. It's all stock, so I cant imagine someone just removed it for the hell of it. If I lift, I want to retain the best ride possible, so now I am thinking OME 3". Maybe that's the goal. Just save for that lift after i get my stock shocks on, and add some nice tires.

Not all XJ's had rear ones. Even though mine is a base model (SE) it had one.

OME is a good goal. Top of line product.
