Default Need help on vehicle value

Our 15 yr old is in a sweat to buy a 2 wheel drive Cherokee with off road accessories that give it a cool look. Seller is asking $6,000. Using blue book we were able to include all the accessories that have been added as factory accessories except the lift and lights. Seller says new engine has 68k miles on it but can't document.

The truck has a damaged front fender with missing trim. Fender drags on the door when it opens. The brush guard is mounted where it hits the hood when hood opens. One person has to pull back on guard while other opens hood. Switch for off road lights was removed. When driving and let off on gas it feels like a loose universal joint.

At good condition and assuming 68k mi on vehicle blue book good condition value is $3,700.

In my mind being 2 wheel drive the cherokee won't be for off road use and all the off road stuff is just for show.

Please let us now your thoughts on value. We really don't have the experience and knowledge to understand value and are looking for help. Thanks in advance.

Description;

4 inch rough country suspension lift, brand new brakes, 68k on engine, All Terrains with 80% tread, custom V Tech rims, brand new Halo LED headlights, new tail lights, brush guard, roof rack, tail light guards, 6 KC lights, 4 brand new kicker door speakers, 12 inch kicker sub and much more.

Run, not walk, away from that setup. WAY too much money for a 2wd Grand Cherokee with a RC lift. Keep your eyes open, there are MUCH better deals out there. Tell your youngster to keep his pants on, LOL

Judging by the half a$$ed install of the crap stereo equipment, I would run away from that thing. No telling what else has been cobbled together just to look good...it doesn't btw.

Adding things to any car or truck don't really make it worth more.I see that 2wd grand cherokee being worth 2k max its a older used car and its 2wd.

The seller should pay you $50 to take that junk off his hands.

Agree with all the above and would suspect some frame damage from what you described and what can be seen.

Just my piece, I own a 99 xj and a 00 WJ. The grand cherokee is 2wd and I have done ZERO cosmetic work to it. It has 232K on the original engine and she still drives like a champ. No off road use and I use my brain in bad weather. It's a good vehicle and I love it. That being said, I wouldn't offer more than 1,000 for this one pictured and the guy above was right.... You don't know what corners were cut (no pun intended) in order to get that stuff on there. The brush guard problem eludes to shorty work.

I can find relatively nice stock 4x4 ZJ's and WJ's all day for around $2500 or less. With an extra grand or so in mods, you and your son can build a rig that's actually capable (and much better than the one above) that you both can be proud of.

If he wants a grand cherokee like that find a 4x4 one,As far as mileage the inline 6 will run well over 300k if taken care of.The v8 ones can run 200k if taken care of if not it will have problems(head gaskets or timing chain).And find a stock one something a normal person owned and took care of.One like that has been used and abused its going to be nothing but problems if you buy it.
