Thought about hacking up my door/hatch panels once upon a time.... Traded up and got the stock replacement Sony X-plodes, 5 way in the doors and 3 way out back. That was 7 years ago and here recently looking to get replaced.
The 6.5s may fit in the doors with a small amount of work, the 6x9s would require some hacking to the back panel I think. Probably best to build a box for those?

2 post doesn't bother me, some people just like to complain. Good luck and read the other post.

Not sure..... Haven't been inside my doors in a long time, but probably enlarge the hole just enough to fit the speakers. A dremmel or jigsaw?

BTW a roodfmounted speaker box is a bad idea, in case of an accident they would become a projectile in case of an accident. Do a search on here for the best way to mount the speakers in the rear hatch

I have 4 speakers and purchased a small amp to assist with the sound and they are loud enough that the neighbor suggested I keep it turned down or kids in the neighborhood will know I have a system in my XJ. Install the speakers and if it isn't loud enough, buy an amp. No need to make it harder than it needs to be
