Some of the older auto's with the tow package had 3.73's. But they didn't have the 29 spline 8.25 in the back. Some of the older 4 cylinders even had 4.10's in them.
on a manual to get back to a stock equivilent you'd want 3.55's for 31's, 3.73 for 32's, 3.96 for 33's, 4.10 for 35's, etc....
on an automatic you'd want 3.73 for 31's, 3.96 for 32's, 4.10 for 33's, 4.56 for 35's, etc...
Never hurts to go the next step lower for a little more umph
