Need directions
Hello fellow jeepers,
I have recently come across a issue that i have read about before but cant seem to find where i read about it. Im experiencing a sputter/jerk when its raining (mostly heavy rain), if i continue to push the jeep feathering the throttle im able to work through the problem as it will eventually stop.
Recent replacements have been distributor, dist. cap, rotor, ignition coil, and pickup coil cable to dist. This issue was around before replacement.
In all, most parts/gaskets/cable/wires, etc have been replaced or upgraded.
So my question is, can someone point me in the direction i need to be going. Whether it be advice on what to check or if you know of a fix it thread or thread in common with my issue?
Things ive checked.
Spark, fuel pressure, timing, grounds(possible body ground), battery connections, belt tension, and fuses.
Personally i think its the body ground next to the battery and when it rains the water comes in between the hood and fender and drips between the ground and body. I also noticed that at the time of the issue, the battery gauge dropped to a lil above 12v. So this is what leads me to think a wire issue.
Thank you for any and all input you guy/gals may have.

From your post, i didn't know if you replaced plug wires or not.. if not, start it up at night, and spray/mist your wires with water. Since you said it happens in the rain, i'd suspect leaky wires.

There wires are fairly new still, i replaced one wire from ignition coil to center point on distributor cap. Slight corrosion build up on the wire so i replaced it. Plus the ignition coil was cracked all the way across..
New- Distributor, Rotor, cap, ign. coil, coil-distributor wire.
Jeep has no problems in dry or moderately wet weather. ONLY heavy rain.
Im gonna try the mist technique and see if i can replicate the problem.
Any other suggestions are welcome. Thanks
