This subject has been covered to death. You need to search to find the answers you're looking for. But I know you won't do that. So, get 4.88's if you have an auto transmission. 4.56 for manual transmission. Speedo gear can be found by crossreferencing your tire size and gear ratio with one of the many charts on google.

Found in .26 seconds.
Not trying to be harsh. But you need to learn how to do some of your own legwork. That aside hope it helped.

He is correct 4.88's for the AW4 and 35" tires 4.56 manual, both of those equal stock gear in the XJ for that tire size. BTW now is the right time to install lockers front and rear same labor to do both at same time.

Your 99 should have the D30 and Chy 8.25 with 29 spline axles which are good. I used Detroit Lockers in mine but an ARB air locker might be a better choice for the D30 on a DD. Mine isn't a DD but drive it a lot on the roads year around and they don't bother me at all.
