Nates4x4 Bumper Finishing
I just purchased a Nates4x4 front bumper with the prerunner bar. Any ideas on how to paint, i was trying to avoid herculining it. I do want a durable and textured finish, not just a glossy or flat black. Anybody have any suggestions, powdercoating? spray can? spray can bedliner? or anything else. Pictures would help also. DOes anybody else have a bumper from them? Comments?

I have a rear bumper with tire carrier from them and i just primed and painted mine with a rattle can. I took everyone's advice that if you paint it and it gets roughed up it easier and cheaper to just prime and paint then it is to redo bed liner.

Anyway, powdercoating, IIRC, involves heating the entire piece to a very hot temp in an oven. Even if you've got a big enough oven to fit your bumper inside (which would make me very jealous), I would never wanna use it again for food because of the chemicals involved.
Bedliner is a very durable product for coating. That may be one of the better options.

When painting steel you need to clean the entire piece with mineral spirits or acetone so that you clean off all the oil they put on steel. Once you are done rattle can primer and paint to your hearts content. A friend helped me out and painted mine with regular heavy duty enamel with a clear coat finish... did this because i liked it better than bed liner.

I have a Nate's winch bumper on my ZJ. All my boyfriend did was clean it with acetone and hit it with rattle can hammered tone paint. if we scuff it, rattle can paint is cheap, LOL. Pics are on Nate's website

Use something that is easy to touch up... it is a bumper after all
The duplicolor aerosol bed liner is great stuff. I used it for all the areas I couldn't roll hurculiner on.
