Still could be a towbar hookup to tow the Jeep to the south in winter with a motorhome driven by snowbirds. We get them here every year and they drag all kinds of vehicles behind them to use as DDs while here. They park the motorhomes and unhook their tag along vehicles and drive them when going to the store or to their afternoon dinners at 4pm.

So where did your Jeep come from? Was it an elderly owner? you may still have some paperwork that will lead you to them to ask what they may know of the unique recievers under your Jeep.

 

i dont see the pic still , but my jeep had these really odd brackets on em when i get it and after asking the previous owner , they were for a cooler rack , aparently he did alot of fishing
