Thumbs up My New '96

Well, I picked up my new '96 on monday, tagged it, and got it inspected today.

I also have a '97 4dr 5sp that's been a great jeep for me for almost 6yrs. The chance to grab this '96 Sport with 125k came up so I had to check it out.
The PO said it needed a belt... which it did. (locked up alternator).
It had been sitting in his yard for about 2 months.
I asked what he was looking to get for it and he says...... "How about $500?"

I paid the man and fixed it in a couple hours in his yard.
She pulls strong, runs/drives smooth, good rubber, great interior/exterior.....pretty much near mint for a '96. (Even has the tow package and chrysler rear)
It came with service records, too! Oil changed with synth, all recalls done, etc. etc.

Sweeeet!

So here is my new $500 DD!

That sucks. They must be cheaper around here. Not normally $500 cheap, but you can get a good one for less than 5k for sure.
I bought my '97 5sp with 90k in '05 at an auction. It was a dealer trade-in and I ended up paying $2300 for it. I took a little gamble, but figured it would pay off and it did.
(the window sticker was actually under the seat,,,,, $6800 from the dealership, but obviously it wasn't selling so they unloaded it)
I wish you luck finding a good one, tho.

Its beautiful man!
Thanks, man. I'm pretty stoked about it....

Thanks, man! I really like the look of the 2dr, too...
I also noticed that it's a little more comfortable than my '97 4dr. This one seems to have a good bit more leg room in the front. I'm a little over 6'2" and my knees are actually several inches from the dash in this one....lol..

I wasn't sure if it was the style change or the 2dr vs. 4dr that made the difference?
