this is a thread about why long arms were worth it for me. go make your own drop bracket thread, it'll go just about as well as all the other ones lol

Control arm drop brackets are the same as a tcase drop, a band-aid. If you are serious about wheeling/getting the job done the 100% right way, then long arms are much better, just like an SYE is much better.

Long arms...
Better? – Probably.
Still have cons? – absolutely.
You like your long arms, I like your long arms, was just attempting to make a point. No worries. I'll move on now.

we can "discuss" it all you want. till our faces are blue in fact. it will never change anything
long arms are still long arms, drop brackets are still drop brackets. people will still continue buying both as both are viable options for improving ride quality
here's how I see it. I know for a fact that I don't have to own a dodge neon to understand that a dodge neon is definitely not going to work for me. I'm eventually going to junk it and buy a nice Cadillac. so why ever bother owning a neon in the first place? I would rather cut out the middle man, pony up the dough, and cry now instead of later. that's how I handle all my purchases and upgrades. I know that's not a perfect analogy but you get the gist.
so sure, my lift wasn't "set up properly" to begin with. But the way I look at it, I was just walking to work while I save up for my Cadillac. yadidihollar?

Yeup it's a moot point. People are gonna do what people are gonna do.
Eventually I will have long arms too for the hell of it like everyone else because that's what building is all about.
Control arm drops are a good "in the middle" mix of both worlds for a fraction of the cost and will eventually need to be upgraded to get the most of a wheeling rig. The point just stands that they're a "doable" option if used responsibly.
But that is a side effect point from my main point that you just brought up about your caster.

what was your main point? caster? yeah it sucks with short arms but caster is fixed by the CAD's and the LA's. six to one half the clearance to the other...

Caster is my problem now with my short arms.
Would adjustable short arms be better then drop brackets??

Id have to agree with atmos, mine as well just bite the bullet so you're not trying to re coupe costs when you upgrade. Long arms are the way to go over CAD anyday. You bring up price, but LAs aren't that expensive. **** you can buy the DIY kit and do it your self pretty cheap(if you can weld). I now have a set being built for me for $400, so like $150 more than CAD.

the last time I owned short arms was a few years ago. they were RE adjustable upper and lower. they didn't adjust anywhere near enough to account for the difference in caster. I had the same issue with a set of RK short arms. I don't know if there is a kit out there that can be adjusted far enough, but if you want to fix your caster for good you can definitely try out the drop brackets.
