In general -- yes , you should NOT go alone; but sometimes you just have to get away from the wife and/or kids and get the H____ out of Dodge.
I have gone many times alone and have never had a problem.
Come prepared and use common sense. The XJ has BOTH SAE/Metric bolts/screws and you have to have a double set of tools for that -- PITA if you ask me. Also a medium grade roll of wire comes in handy, Army shovel , extra jack and matching spare.
