Going to look at a Blue 2000 Cherokee with 86k on it. Actually in really good condition from the pictures and does not appear to be any exterior rust. I will check the underside when I get there. Says he has all service records and everything.
Asking price is $6,000 OBO. He said hes had other people interested, so I doubt I can talk him down much. It KBB for $5100.

Seems like a decent price considering there's no body damage and you're getting all the service records.
You should look for any patterns of anything in the service records to make sure you won't be spending too much on service when you become the owner.
Otherwise - do indeed look at the under-carriage and make sure there are no leaks anywhere....

It is an 11 year old vehicle with a gas engine that has almost 100K miles on it. Does it have a lift, nice rims and tires, offroad bumpers, winch or killer stereo or anything else that would make it worth 1K over KBB?? If not I would offer him 5K and that is only if it has no rust or leaks anywhere. The undercarriage would have to be clean enough to eat off of for that much....or....I'd tell him go ahead and sell it to one of those other suckers you supposedly say you have wanting it. I guarantee he would sell it to you for 5K especially if you had cash in hand. He'd probably go $4500 with the country in a recession and all. I've dealt with guys like him before. Pisses me off when you start wheeling and dealing and the seller says I've had other guys interested for the price I'm asking. My answer to that is why didn't they buy it if they thought that was a fare price?? Make your final offer in cash and stand strong. If it's ment to be the seller will sell. There is always a next Jeep Cherokee for sale. Craig's List is always loaded with them.

Typically private sellers go with KBB, dealerships go with NADA. If it's at a stealership ask for a copy of the Kar Fax on it, too.

I always look up KBB and NADA (and I believe there's one other price reporting company) before I head out to buy a car... They are just guidelines, in the end the price is dependent on the seller and how good you are at dealing. Is there a head crack issue for the 2000MY? Cause that's something you'll want to know about.
