Mounting a SOT Kayak on top?
I'm looking for an affordable way to carry my Yak on top for a long road trip this coming week, with so many choices it's hard to decide...
If you can help me with some descriptions (links) and pictures I'd greatly appreciate it.
Just for fun, I placed it on top of the factory rails...

Def. suggest Yakima if price isn't a big deal. That is what I run, and I just throw it on top of the roof bars and tie it down.
2 quick tips:
- a cheap (and colorful) bar cushion can be found at any storm with summer pool stuff...get what is called a noodle. Cut in half.
- make sure either to include locks with the purchase of a rack, or buy a bike lock that you can secure the kayak (or bike, etc.)
Lol...my avatar pic even shows my set-up,

yes I know I could google it...
Way to obvious with run of the mill results.
What I'm looking for is what fellow XJ owners use, how is it mounted, costs and maybe some pictures.
Affordable is the key word here

I've got a Rage Power sports rack on my factory bars. I carry my Jackson Kayak Coosa and camping gear in it with no issues.

Ishoulda added to my earlier post the mounting details.
In my case my Yakima came from mt Subaru Legacy GT Wagon, so the "towers" were meant for that cars roof-rails. However, I did manage to mount thr rack to the factory roof rack by having the Yakima clamp to the the top end points of the Jeeps facorty cross over bars where there is a loop/whole in the side. I have the 2nd gen body style so not sure if they are the same piece on earlier models. The fit isn't great, but as in the picture/avatar, it holds the kayak and bike just fine.
