Reviving this gold nugget of a thread.
1) Lifting the Jeep before converting to 4x4 - would've been nice to experience wheeling it in 4wd at stock height. She was pretty capable offroad stock 2wd, can only imagine what 4wd woulda got me through.
2) Painting the leaf springs silver to match the coils. - not much explanation needed there.
3) Making a "stubby" bumper... RIP left hand turn signal lens.
4) Not doing the ZJ seat swap SOONER - the difference in ride comfort is ridiculous.

For me it's the softer ride off road. After terrorizing the desert in all makes and models of 4x4's over the years, I kind of got spoiled with how soft my Baja bugs rode over whatever you threw at them. So now I have a problem with being jerked and jolted around too much. With factory springs these are not too bad about this, more than the Baja, but much better than most modified with stiffer springs.Originally Posted by Basslicks

1) Cowl intake on a daily. It's like constantly having a mouth breather stuck on an intake stroke in the passenger seat
2)mossy oak sub box and amp rack. Don't know what I was thinking.
3) Heavy tire carrier bumper. They're convenient but HEAVY and your back window is useless

doing the h4 conversion and using autopal assemblies. they are not durable and rust internally even with no damage to the lens.
AAL (to combat sagging leaves) instead of new leaf packs
ive only done 3 mods basically and there are 2 of them.

I wouldn't put Rancho RS5000 shocks on my XJ again. They rode like crap and didn't last for ****.

Regrets from a manual trans owner.
- Dont go with a Duralast clutch. Chatters like none other after 3000 miles.
- Dont go with a lunchbox locker if you like driving on the streets. You can definitely tell its there. Air locker would be much better. I have driven an auto with a lunchbox locker and it is way better on the street.

Honestly, I probably wouldn't have put all the money into the lift and follow on parts. I have like a 40 mile hwy commute and it would probably be a lot more comfortable on 225's than a 3.5" lift and 33's.

first set lasted about a year and tore, they have a five year warranty so i got them swapped for free.
second set lasted 6 months an tore worse.
if you have a waist over 34" you don't fit into the bolsters.
i have grand cherokee leathers now that i bought for $140. live an learn.
I also had 4 hids on the roof rack and i got tired of the warm up time and sometimes unreliable startups so i put a cheap led bar. no range at all, not good for the open desert at any speed. also it whistles badly.
(double regret with a twist?)
an the sunroof that the po put. i feel a deep regret for the dumbass that paid real money to get that put in.

That light bar was probably a flood pattern only. Gotta get spot or flood/spot combo for range. Learned that lesson with my 4 pods that I have up top.... not really "lesson learned" per se, they still work great, but I'm definitely going to replace the 2 center pods with 2 spots and put the floods on the rear for backing trailers at night.Originally Posted by nolanbalzarini

That's the advantage of pods over "light bars" (which are technically light "arrays") IMO. You can "customize" your aiming, beam patterns, and control the lights individually over just a bar stuck on your roof in one position.

probably the roof rack. I never used it, and it killed my mileage. But it looked cool!
