Wow, can't say I've ever seen an E-tool like that. That thing is a weapon not a shovel!

Looks like a mod a soldier did to better use it as a weapon. That is if it was used by one

Too bad that one isn't in better shape.

Prolly worth some money if you can confirm it was from 1945...

Difinitely looks modified. Look into it man looks like someone who actually did trench fighting had their hands on that shovel.

I always carry one of the WWII one-piece shovels (mine doesn't have teeth though). I much prefer them to the newer E-tools that the military uses. Mine is from the early 40's as well.

that was modified. I have several of them (without modifications) But I did sharpen the edges with a file, On the one in my Jeep. I also always keep a P38 can opener on my key chain, Along with my father's dog tags. (Korean War)

i can't sware to it. but, i as a kid i sware i've seen a couple done like that. don't get me wrong. but, as a kid i used to be real big into G.I.Joe crap and my grama used to take me to a military surplus store in wichita falls texas to get camo gear. but that was in the 80's. i sware i saw them there. when i saw the pic you posted it was like a has a flash back from the past. but, that could have been a very common thing to do to them. i just find it kind of find it weird that the tooth patern looks very familiar.
