I want a mini fridge in the back of my xj so I can keep some drinks cold while I'm out wheeling or driving around town.
I'm sure there's a way to do it.
I'm thinking of wiring a power converter. To the back some how & just plugging it in.
But I want it hooked to a switch so I can't turn it on when I get in or when I want some cold drinks. Maybe just wire a remote Cable or something like that so it turns on when my jeep turns on.
Any ideas?

I'm not too sure how much you wanted to spend, but this is what I run in my semi. It will run on 110V or AC/DC12V. Plug it into the house to get things ready to go the night before, and when you leave, it will plug right into a cigarette lighter and keep things ice cold. When I stay in a motel, I just carry it in and plug it into the wall. Then I have all my food and drinks with me and it's still cold after my truck sits all night.
It's a little more expensive because it's a true fridge with a compressor, NOT a thermo cooler, like most portable coolers. They'll only take things down about 20 degrees cooler than the ambient air temp. The compressor is designed to run while the vehicle is in motion. It only draws 6 amps. It's the best money I've ever spent on keeping things cool. I've had and used about all of them in my semi and I can tell you that this is the best hands down, just not the cheapest.
I have the largest model, but I keep food, drinks, and frozen stuff in it. If you're just wanting drinks and a lunch, one of the smaller ones would work great.

Put an auxillary power outlet in my daughters XJ. Ran a dedicated 10ga wire from the battery, under the carpet, to the rear passenger side cubby. Put the power outlet in the cubby.
Make sure you put a fuse close to the battery.

Went on a trail ride with a guy that had a ARB freezer in his YJ wrangler, it was great eating ice cream bars in 90+ degree weather on the trail. The ARBS are way expensive, but really work. ( They are an AC/DC setup like the truck fridge. )
Had My Cooler go flyin once or twice! If I ever make it a dedicated Weekend only type rig that would be awesome I'm thinkin A Yeti cooler when I get rich in the meantime though... Please post pics of the mini fridge set up????

I use an apartment sized fridge in mine for camping trips. To run it, I have a 1750 watt inverter, which is much more than needed for a fridge. I mounted it on the side where the spare was.

I strap it down in back. The Portawatz inverters have the option of a remote switch, which you can buy for $25
