military tribute paintjob?
Anyone painted a jeep in a way to show appreciation to the military? If so, was it well received, or did you get a lot of grief over it?

I like that color
I want to use the color you have from the windshield back, put decals in the back window for each branch of the service, and put something on the back saying thank you to all the men and women who faught tob protect our way of life, etc
But quite a few people I talked to think I'm asking for trouble

That's BS. If anyone gives you grief over having "Support our Troops", on your Jeep, Then tell those people that it doesn't necessarily mean that you support "the war", just that you support the people that risk there lives and in some cases DIE, for us to even being able to say what we want on this, or any other forum. And if all else fails's, go with the poster above me!!
Edit: My XJ's painted green by me, I like the military colors.

im in the military and i love seeing jeeps with military colors and support. i say go for it and put a nice star on the front doors. for those who dont agree or give you greif about it dont deserve the freedom of speech to say they dont like it. IMO.

Its not the vocal disapproval I'm worried about, I don't care if people disagree, I'm just wondering if I would be inviting people to vandalize it.
And I've been told horror stories about endangering my family by having something like that if we go to an urban area

Well, in that case, i guess it would be up to your discretion. I still think that if anyone would vadalize your XJ over something like that then maybe they should join the military, they might come back with a different opinion.

Well i know on bases, you can ask for trouble, a buddy of mine thats in the army went onto a air force base and got a nice big dent in his front plastic bumper since it had army crap all over it.
I say try it, i would love to do something like that. i support our troops. maybe make it into a semi show rig, not sparkling, but something that looks good and still gets a awesome brown speckled paintjob every now and again
