I don't feel there was any love. Just some guy uneducated about a Jeep making random observations and lots of mistakes and oddities.

He definitely doesn't get it. It's like he's describing an ancient vehicle he's never seen before.

It was nice to see him cover the vehicle though, he does a lot of videos. I like the "regular car reviews" xj video more. It captures the spirit of the XJ better.

To give Doug M. credit, he wrote an article last year for one of the auto mags that identified the XJ as the next truly collectible SUV, and made a pretty good case for the argument. It talked a little bit about how collectible vehicles like the XJ don't happen over night, and how it is hard for people to see it happening in real time (but as a recent buyer of a good condition XJ, I can attest that it is happening). Good article, though it wasn't anything we don't already know around here.

I liked Doug's review. He is right about the XJ becoming an icon. I see XJs in movies and TV shows all the time (Blue Bloods and Manchester by the Sea are 2 examples off the top of my head).

It is also generational. I drove my 24 nephew for the first in the XJ and he asked me if I was thinking of getting a new car. Millennials!

by definition i am a millennial. people of all ages ask me why i don’t drive a “better car”. women have 2 instant failures. explaining to me why i should have a new car and failing the door test. if either occur - i’m out. the only thing i own with power locks is the vette. but tbh i’m not even sure if they work, ive never locked the door.

iconic or not i am keeping my xj(s) as long as i see fit.

"Better". Wow, talk about not getting it...

I'm not even sure exactly what the average person's definition of "better" is in that situation, since I obviously don't think like them.

That's for sure. I really had to laugh about a "car guy" puzzling over the door handles. OMG you have to push a button! (It was only the most common door handle design on cars for decades, guy. D'oh!)

Turning on the dome light by rotating the headlight switch to the left - once again, a very common feature on older vehicles but this guy makes it sound like he's unearthed some kind of ancient Sanskrit.

Ah, to be young and stupid again!
