Looking for shocks
Hey everybody,
I am in need of replacing my shocks and am wondering what to go with. I don't have the money for a lift and to do it the proper way. I am looking at the following shocks.
Skyjacker hydros 7000
Procomp ES1000
Rough Country Nitro 9000
Any advice would help.
Thanks

You can get a 100 different answers on this question. Most guys here prefer Bilstein shocks, as do I. first you need to decide if you need new shocks. Second what is the primary purpose of your jeep. Do you wheel it heavily? More of an occasional weekend warrior? You also state you are on a budget, so that will affect the quality of the product you are looking to purchase. I'm guessing you are in the 150-200 bucks rang on a set.
Well, I am primarily a street driver. I don't do a lot of off-roading some mountain driving but nothing heavy or in deep mud. Yes I am trying to be around $150 for a set. I do know I need new shocks. Going over any bump and it sounds like the back end is bottoming out. Overall the ride is very bouncy.

Procomp ES1000 will be the best for your budget, although its been said by many members that ALL white body shocks are the same = junk. Just get an OEM replacement that you can afford then upgrade later down the road when/if you want to.

These are even cheaper and are pretty much a direct oem replacement. http://www.4wheelparts.com/Lift-Kits...pn=CRO83501161

Look at a company called Zone, they offer pretty good products for a very reasonable price. you can usually find a set of their nitro shocks for around 150 on amazon or ebay. The issue at hand is finding a shock from these companies designed for a non lifted vehicle. Out of what you listed I would go with the pro comp. too many mixed reviews on RC branded stuff.
Here is a link to zones website at there Nitro Series. you can usually find them a little cheaper somewhere else

Hey everybody, thanks a lot for the great advice. I was going to go with the RC but then realized that they don't make shocks for the front which I found odd.
Also I just looked at the Zone shocks. It did not have any that would fit a stock Jeep. Smallest was a 2" lift. I would imagine that wouldn't work.
The Jeep is factory ride height.

For a stock jeep that does not see alot of offroading I would agree on the Monroes. I'm not saying there as good as OME but they are made in the same factory. There has to be a reason OME picked them to build there shocks.

^This,
If you want a stock ride get the Monroe-Matic Plus (~$16 ea.) if you want a little softer ride get the Monroe Sensa-Tracs (~$25-30 ea.) can't beat them for the price (listed prices are from Rock-Auto they may very a little at your local auto-parts store).
