You may need to take fresh picture, because everytime you post we are all too distracted by the floor mats to pay attention.

So I got my antenna bracket finished. It's drying right now. I will post some pics tomorrow, before and after install.
I have a question for all you guys with cb's. I am picking up talk on the cb, however its almost always choppy and always full of static. Do I just have a cheap cb? Cheap antenna? Crappy cable? Is it because I live near some buildings? What's the deal? I'm considering ordering a 5' fire stik and 18' fire flex cable. Would this help? Found a good deal on a set online. What do you guys think? Any help would be awesome. Thanks guys.

Use a separate wire to ground the antenna mount to the body. Make sure you have good metal to metal contact and check the resistance with an ohm meter. Should be as close to 0 as possible.

The bracket that I made will be touching the body. Should I just sand a little spot of clean metal on the bracket and the body where they will make contact? There will be 3 screws holding it on so I will be a nice tight connection. Will that work?

Yes, but a secondary ground wouldn't hurt.

No. use crimp-on ring connectors on either side of the wire (insulated 12 gauge copper strand I recommend) one side gets bolted to the body with good metal to metal contact. The other side is connected to one of the bolts on the mount making metal to metal contact with the antenna mount.

Metal to metal means there is no rust or paint.

Gotcha, could you maybe show me a picture of yours tomorrow? I understand but I'm having trouble visualizing what the wire would look like. Could I do it with a peice of copper 12 wire just to test it?

Yes, as long as you are making contact to the antenna mount and NOT the antenna.

I can try and come up with something to show you cuz my connections are hidden. Unless someone else chimes in with a pc before I get a chance.
