Saw one guy that did a write up, where he took a ammo box and mad a modification to the center console, it was pretty cool

If I were you, I would either have a very strong box that is bolted to the floor, or don't keep anything valuable in there. If someone decides to snoop around your jeep, and something is locked, then they know there is obviously something valuable in there. When I have my doors off, there's nothing in my jeep that I can't replace eseally except for my tools. And there locked to the floor with a bike cable.

CB! H***,... I have over $1700 into my sound system alone. I would like to keep it. It take me two afternoons to put it in there. And does look like a factory install job. But still there is a lot of other things in it, I keep on hand camera, handheld GPS, tools, etc. Which is why I'm glad the alarm works. I use mine as a DD too.

Depending on your year. Mine is a 98 when I took the broken factory latch off there was a plastic circle as if it was meant for a lock, so I cut that out went to Lowe's and got a 13/16 cabnet lock with the bent cam (came with a long one short one and bent one) took the lid off and the four screws holding the buck in and lined it up and cut a hole. Looks almost factory

Everyone here says its easy to break into, ya it is if you add a simple lock..., be smart and brace and plate and you'd be fine...
Everyone here that has posted probably hasn't even truly thought about or attempted if they say its easy to break in.
The lid separates in to two pieces, I have in between those pieces, 18 gauge metal, the actual lock(not latch) is secured by a similar thick metal the prevent yanking and prying it off. The hinged area is reinforced with metal and bolts to avoid that area.
Basically if you plan it out and be smart, you can't make it a true secure box.

I think this is a key point. You could put the best lock in the world on it and your still locking a plastic box. I'd be willing to bet any locking mechanism you install would stay locked but the rest of the box could be ripped open.
If you really want to secure it the container you are locking needs to be as strong as the lock is and even then it's not infallible. There is no such thing as a completely secure locking system.
