ammo box to center consol/arm rest
I own a BARE BONES '91 cherokee and wanted a center console to put stuff in and rest my arm on. Tuffy makes a nice product for the XJs that came without the factory center console but its way too expensive.(over $200 bucks I think)
I paid under $15 bucks for the ammo box from the army/navy surplus store. So this should be fun.

^^^Thanks man!
Heres what I cut away so far. The eBrake lever is going too high and hitting the box. Im gonna have to get under the Jeep and tighten the brake cables so I wont have to pull the lever so high to get full eBrake engagment.

Its actually coming together quite nice and no problems. That parts comes when I start welding a tunnel in thin sheet metal to cover the brake lever inside.

I really like your idea - its cool to see someone take an object like that and turn it into something functional and unique. Keep it coming.

my father-in-law gave me an ammo can from when he was in the military years ago. he actually fired the ammo from the can.
i used it as my center console in my 49 ******.
they make such cool and useable center consoles. great conversation piece.

Yeah the e-brake part makes it more time consuming but over all its not giving me too many problems. I ha to tighten the e-brake cable from under the Jeep so the lever wouldnt hit the top of my cut.
I decided I would make a base out of thicker metal to put in the bottom of the ammo box so I wouldnt have as many problems with burning holes with my welder.

Here's what it might look like once all finished.
This is just a mock up.
Gonna use 20 gauge sheet metal from "home depot" to box the e-brake lever in and out of sight. Im working on the templates right now.
