Good job trying to back up just one of your claims. and with that, it is clear you do not know how a differential works.

everything moves just as fast when you have 100% traction to both wheels. It takes just as much power to spin either way. When one tire is hanging in the air and just spinning, while the other tire is firmly planted and not getting any power to it, then obviously the engine isnt working as hard, as it cant propel the vehicle if the tire is only touching air.

I've wheeled from coast to coast with my last Cherokee, pretty much every terrain you can think of.

 

if you had a better suspension and no lockers you would have made it.

All that experience and you think a stock fj could hang through a rock section without tipping just because all four wheels are turning?

One of my best friends' mom has a loaded FJ. We've wheeled it, it's stock, it can damn well hold its own and for sure will shame a stock xj.

 

i'll put this as simply as possible...

you're comparing apples to oranges - does a well tuned suspension assist your abilities though rough sections? Yes. Does a locker to the same thing for a rig without one? Yes. So are they the same? HELL NO.

You can only go so far on suspension alone - if two opposite wheels are in the air you're not going anywhere without a locker to transfer the power to the wheels that have traction. Period.

You can argue this all day long, but we have enough experienced guys who have been wheeling a HELL of a lot longer than you here that will continue to tell you you're full of crap...

Just going on my small rock pile out front we had to hold back the Fj from flipping.

 

No, do you not understand the transfer of power through an open diff? Power will be sent to the wheel with the least traction which is, tada, the one in the air.

 

yup. that's what i'm sticking to.

 

With open diffs you're stuck like that. This is a fact, for any vehicle with open diffs and no traction aids.
