This is what open diffs gets you:
Two tires spinning. No traction. If you never do mud like that you'll be fine.

As you can see in both of those videos, all 4 tires are sitting on the ground. It doesn't just have to be mud. It can be loose gravel, sand, wet slick rocks, snow, etc.
Just trying to get the point across that this dude could have the baddest flexingest suspension ever and still be stuck as a duck without lockers.

Dang! That guys needs lockers!!! Seriously, thats driver error here. Give him some lockers. Or teach him some wheeling 101
Better teach him wheeling. He would not make it with lockers either.

Sometimes there are no bypasses. I'd also rather go slow than have to rally. Rallying breaks things. And yeah, he could have done things differently.Originally Posted by holycaveman

Drop in too fast to keep your momentum up and you'll end up stuck in the middle. Had to pull my bro out because of this. Somehow killed the engine in the middle of the water/mud pit and couldn't get it started again. It was a hell of a splash. Luckily he didn't hyrdolock that *****. I told him before I pulled him out, if he did, I'd leave him with a wrench. lol.Originally Posted by holycaveman

I know what your getting at. But I try and drive around the negative effects of a vehicals limitations. I have to or I wouldnt go anywhere! LOL
Seriously though. It seems too easy to wheel this thing. I would laugh big time if I actually have some type of locker or track lock something or other!

Yeah, they are very capable. When I was open and use to have to rally (mainly in the snow, and that gravelly ****) I always worried about snapping axles, ujoints, TREs, etc because the road was rocky and my tires are heavy, didn't have any issues. I'd also take bypasses. After the winch and the lockers, I tend to go for the hardest lines just to see if I can do it. And it does.

I wont run any locker in my daily driver that you can't unlock. MOST daily drivers feel this way. I am not talking street legal trucks, shoot you can make legal a full rock rig. I am talking your MAIN transportation here.

So you are comparing a $400 3in kit to an air locker. And that is your idea of a finely tuned suspension that lets you articulate and keep all 4 wheels on the ground through all obstacles? Suspension is key but there comes a time when you cannot go any further and you need to upgrade, unless you are happy where you are at, which is fine too.

I have bout 200 in the lift and suspension components. Right now the only places I can't go are the places I risk body damage or my lack of clearance stops me. Picking lines like a surgeon help my clearance issues. But because of my love for highwalls and hill climbs my xj wont be lifted any more than it is.Originally Posted by helmut

Money doesn't tune suspension. Taking the time to make certain you are getting everything out of your current set up does. And I still have some more work to do.
I watch those who wheel around me and what is working, and what is not. Believe me if I can't make something everyone else can I will make some changes.
