Default Lighting

Lighting has turned out to be a little hobby of mine I guess. I've built projector retrofits for my XJ before, and am in the middle of a new retrofit for my XJ. I'm running 4500k 35 watt DDM tuning HIDs and Morimoto mini D2S Bi-Xenon projectors for my headlights. My foglights are generic H3 fog projectors with 3000k 35 watt HIDs. I also have two KC 57 Series 55 watt halogen lights up on my roof rack. The setup does the job, but I'm looking to make things even brighter.....

What lighting setups are you guys running? Post pics of what you've got and the light output!

if you want them even brighter look into 100w bulbs for your lights, they make a world of difference, but beware of the draw on the battery and the strain on the alt.

The issue with me running 100w bulbs in the roof rack lights is that the wiring harness won't be able to handle the power draw, the housings will overheat, the reflectors will probably fog, and the lexan lenses will melt lol. I've got an optima yellow top so i'm not too worried about power supply. I'd run 100w bulbs in something like daylighters where everything is steel and glass, but not the 57 series because they're pretty much just plastic.

Anyways, i see you've got angry eyes on stock sealed beams. Did it affect the light output at all? just curious

He used tape.

I used paint.

Neither effected output. There is a thread on angry eyes.

Hmm shortly I am installing 100/80w headlights with a new wiring harness. What kind of effect will this have on the battery/alt?

As of right now i'm running silverstar headlights, but i'm going to do the harness upgrade soon.

I'm also running generic 55w rectangular driving lights on my bumper with silverstar bulbs and Hella 500 driving lights on my a-pillars.

Also, i for a while now I've been converting to L.E.D.s. I'm up to 285. Got them in front turn signals, front corner lights, dome lights, map lights, under dash lights, glove box, "tailgate" lightbar, as well as additional lighting.

Oh and i also carry a 9 L.E.D. tripod flashlight in my jeep. So yeah, i like lighting too.

Mine actually aren't just bulbs, i split the lenses and retrofit 6" oval turn signals inside. So big difference.

If you want to stick with halogens for headlights, look into E-code H4 housings with HIR bulbs, and a catz zeta system. They are THE brightest Halogen bulbs. The catz zeta system supplies more power and utilizes a HD harness.

I've been replacing the lights in my jeep with LEDs too. My shifter light, transfer case shifter light, and lisence plate light are white LEDs. My clear corner turn signal lenses are amber LEDs, and the bumper turn signal lenses are white/amber switchback LEDs.
I still have more to convert haha.

I would really like to do the hid projector retrofit, just not sure how much time and money it takes.

I love the look of L.E.D.s. Plus they pull less power and last way longer. I eventually want all L.E.D.s and if someone comes out with an L.E.D. headlight i'll probably get that too. Haha.

My headlight setup cost me about $400 all together.
LED headlights have been around for a while. They're just costly and probably aren't as bright as HIDs. I started seeing sealed beams with LEDs inside on Garbage trucks around last year. Weird? I know lol.

Kind of late but I have 4, 100w procomp spot lights on the roof (wired with relays and such). H4 delta housing with upgraded harness. 2, 5" procomp fluted lights on the bumper.. Can't see how you would need anymore! I would love HID's but can't justify spending anymore on lighting..
