You'll have to ask your carrier to be sure. I've never heard of that, but who really trusts insurance companies anymore? You better call.

mine didnt go up but then gain your company wont cover your lift so there for in a wreck they would just cover the value of the jeep not all the fun stuff you put on it unless you can have them cover it also but that wouls raise your rates.

i pay $100 a month for "full" coverage ($5,000 on the jeep, $50,000 total vehicle damage, $100,000 person damage) I have accident forgiveness and it wont raise my rates if i get in an accident that is not my fault(as determined by the courts) and it wont raise my rates for any tickets either.
My parents also have their house, all of their 5 cars, my sisters car, their trailer, my trailer, my truck and convertible thru them. so that probably helps having so much business with them and the oldest vehicle besides my jeep is a 2004.
As an Agent I would recommend you ask your company.
Some companies don't care, others will not insure a lifted vehicle at all.
Just remember, if you have comp and collision coverage, it onlys pays out on an actual cash value. Meaning you only get up to what the vehicle is worth, this does not include aftermarket (lifts) equiptment. Most policies will have coverage for after market equipment of either 500 or 1000, or you can pay to have more coverage to insure your mods.
If you only carry Liability, it doesn't matter, because they are not covering your vehicle anyway.

I use Unitrin Direct. They know that it's lifted and they don't care. Insurance only went up when it was stock and then went down after a little while. I have full coverage with them and they are even willing to cover damage to vehicle when wheeling. They have it labeled under personal and recreational vehicle. I pay about 400 every six months.

As it is my job to provide this "cash value" for you car/truck/van/boat/rv/trailer/etc. I can not say it enough. Your aftermarket equipment will most likely not increase the value of your whatever.
Lets say your jeep is worth $3,500 and you have $2,000 in mods. Well you are only going to see about $4,000 to $4,500 from your insurance. Lift kits add a very little amount, maybe 10 to 15% of the purchase price. Your bumpers will add nothing. Roof rack, nothing. Any extra lights, nothing. The list goes on. The big word we use in the industry is "preferential." Your personal choice to modify the vehicle from its stock specs.
Hope this helps.

Depends all apon your insurance company. Yes! It does vary. My company will ask no questions. With FULL Coverage your vehical value and after market parts will be covered sufficently. If you have crappy insurance, you'll get a crappy check. CHEAP insurance gets your bare minimum, trust me. Use big companies you know will pay up. Mine does very well.

speaking of insurance.....(not to thread jack just thought it would be an appropriate time) will my jeeps insurance rates change if i do a 4wd swap on it? will i have to turn it in as a 4wd jeep or will it be counted as 2wd because of that being what i first turned it in as?
