Insurance companies insure vehicles with the assumption that it is in stock condition. If you want the lift insured you will need to endorse it on your policy as additional equipment. It is not likely that they will insure the lift as additional equipment but if they do it will cost more. Not because it is a lift but because it is additional equipment just like after market stereo equipment. The problem you run into is it will be classified as modified from stock and could limit the number of companies that will insure it. Also, if you choose to use it offroad many insurance companies will not insure it for offroad and onroad use. There is increased risk when it is used for anything other than normal driving. Basicly if you insure it and do not endorse it with a lift, the equipment will not be insured and you will only recieve actual cash value on the vehicle in stock condition. Talk to your agent first and find out what is and is not covered.
