Hey everyone, I have a 4.5 inch rough country lift on my 1993 Xj. I just bought 33x12.5 tires; will I need to trim the fenders?
Thanks,
Mike

Yes, if you want to get the full use of the suspension. The stock wheel wells just aren't big enough to fit a 33" tire in them and will rip the flares off.

Look up the rear cut and fold for the fenders. The front you just need to trim up to the bottom edge of where the flare bracket goes. There are a lot of write ups and videos on the topic.Originally Posted by mikewcallahan3

Also, I'm not sure what state your in, check your fender flare laws. In PA for instance, you can't take off the flares and trim up the fenders and call it good (well, you can but it's technically against the law). The fender flares must cover the tire. This only applies if your going to drive it on the road such as a DD. If it's a dedicated trail rig, no worries. Sometimes the LEOs here in PA will harass my TJ friend for his "out of spec" fenders.Originally Posted by mikewcallahan3
