I would say spend the extra 50 on new coils. It's not that much more and there brand new. You know they're good. Blocks are a terrible idea. Any off road use is hard on your leaf's not a great idea. I would do an add leaf and new shackles. You can get a budget boost from fat bobs for 100 that comes with coil spacers and an extended shackle or an add leaf. If you buy that kit you have pieces you can ALWAYS use. Most kits use a longer shackle and spacers. So that's your best bet. Also if you replace the shackle now it will save you work in the future when you wanna lift higher.

If your shackle is really sketchy get a new OE or lift shackle and some new leafs. 2" leaf + 1" shackle is a decent combo. AAL is an option but it will sag and you'll need to replace the whole thing in a few months to a year or two depending on how bad your leaf springs are.

There are plenty of 3" kits out there. Keep looking. You'll find ones with add a leaf, aal and shackles, full leaf packs. Tons of options. Best one being one with full leaf packs.

well then i might as well buy the kit fromt rustys coils and full leafs for 438 with shocks. i was just looking to cheap it out due to the fact i dont hardcore wheel the thing. ill have to check the hight of the front and rear of the jeep to see if shackles will work. i dont wanna do aal and i dont wannt spend the cash on the rusty now at the moment. like i said i found a set of used spring for 50 so i was just trying to jeep it on the cheap here.

438 for a kit with shocks IS cheap. Zone is another option.
If you want ultra cheap look around here for the budget build thread using JY parts. Plenty of coils and leaves you can hobble together.

I run 1.5" blocks and beat my jeep pretty good. Put 2" blocks on my dads jeep, he loves it.
Lot of paranoia on the net about them but no real experience.
Make sure your leafs are in good shape. If they are shot then its better to go with full springs.

Be careful listening to this guy. He has this habit of claiming that nobody other than him has any experience and everything you read online is made up.
Cut it all out and put in new then. You will break things anyway.
Lots of suggestions in this thread and the rest of the forum.

Here is a picture of my Dads we just did last Christmas. He loves it. 2in blocks in the rear, 3in coil spacers in the front(which only lift about 2.5") 30" tires.
His suspension was pretty rusted also and even though I have done a ton of them I am glad I did not have to mess with the shackles.
So for under a hundred bucks you can have a nice little lift that makes the jeep look a ton better. And not too difficult to install. You can keep your current shocks, and everything. Just may have to slightly adjust your steering linkage to make the steering wheel line back up straight.
