Default To lift or not to lift? that is my question.

My son has been hounding me to have the Jeep lifted, I don't go Mudding or Crawling, I do go on trails ( mild ) for photography purposes, I get alot of snow ( we've had over two feet at once ) Is there any benefit for me to have it done, or would I be wasting my time? Keep in mind I'm only 5'2" so any amount of lift would require me to get some kind of step so I can get it.

Body or Suspension?
I also just bought new BFG's-235/75/15, would these look totally stupid if I got a little lift? what all would I have to replace?

you cant put body lifts on our cherokees considering they're unibody vehicles...but it sounds like your best bet would be a 2'' BB

i have the 235/57/r15 wranglers, i think they would look fine with a 2" lift... maybe 2" shackles in the back and 2" spacers in the front from a cheap budget boost would be your best option, thats what i plan to do in the next few months, mainly for looks though, haha

If you are lifting a Cherokee you are lifting the entire Unibody so in actuality you are doing a body lift only way to get more ground clearance is taller tires

no boss your are doing a suspension lift...a body lift lifts the body off of the frame and once again cherokees do not have frames

I run 235/75/15R's on my 1994 Cherokee Country, with absolutely no lift or rubbing. But I also plan to do a 2" budget boost. Shackles in rear, spacers up front. :P

too funny i just about fell out of my chair.

and to the OP a mild lift would look good on any XJ but I would spend a little money and get the OME (old man emu) set up. New rear leaf springs better shocks and coils. Basically replace parts that were out over time with better then stock replacements. Almost do a super stock build.

Old Man Emu 2.5" suspension. It will ride better than stock. And your tires wouldn't look too small.

I would suggest going with this one from Rough Country with the new leafs. http://www.roughcountry.com/jeep_xj_3x.html I only say this cause i'm sure your leafs are sagging and they could probably be replaced.

is the back of your jeep sitting low?
from the pics i'd say yes
look into new leaf packs( with or with out lift)
if you go new stock leafs then a 2 in bb (spacers and shackles) would be perfect, you tires will look fine and minimal upgrades later on
lift leafs and spacers to match same thing
more clearance is always good

I'm afraid I do have a bit of a saggy rear, it was really bad when I bought it, I had new shocks put on and it helped, but it looks to me like it still has a bit of a sag. This picture makes it look worse then it really is, my driveway isn't level anywhere.

I would suggest new leafs for a saggy rear. man you really got to maintain those things or their bound to get out of control. and keep an eye on the front.

in theory we have the same jeep so
an ad a leaf lift or shackles would do no good with bad leafs
and 2 inches really won't require you to buy stilts
